Seriously. What if I told you that you are god and so am I? The only catch is that you have to stop following your own desires. You have to let go of all the things you keep telling yourself you need. But the really tricky part is that it’s not the stuff, it's the desire for the stuff. Having a big house or nice car isn’t the reason you forgot that you are god. The inner belief that you need any of that stuff is where it gets dark. Believing that we are here to acquire stuff came from following, coveting, what we saw. We saw work and we saw bills and we got jobs and we paid rent. But when we started following what we saw we stopped following what we felt and that's when we forgot. That’s when I forgot what I am and where I came from and why I came here. We all have the ability to remember, inside of ourselves, exactly what and why we are and only we can find that. You will know peace when you can be still and know you are god.
The original text translation of the word god comes from the word Elohim which just means ultimate authority. It’s not a being or an afterlife plan, it's more order or force the way we would discuss the force of nature today. The god the original text referred to exist in everyone, but was tested constantly by human desires. A snake doesn’t talk, but it’s a great metaphor for the bad side of our thoughts. Knowing we shouldn't, but doing it anyway, and not giving credit to our own talking snake for the win. Then we can wallow in that bad decision and drag it out for hours or days when it was really a few seconds. And that's win number two for that snake. Being god is remembering that time never stops and I am responsible for my emotions. Deciding if something is good or bad isn’t important. When I do that I’m layering my own expectation onto it. Things can only exist and I can only ruin them with a label.
I believe I can say you are god for the same reason I can say I am god. Because, trapped in all of the you’s, is all that exists from moment to moment. The you’s I am referring to are the versions of ourselves that we created based on what we followed. You have an important meeting to run or a gavel to bang. The entire universe exists inside of our minds everyday because we follow what's inside of our minds everyday. We do and have so much that we have to give it meaning or what would our lives mean? If I accepted that 40 years were spent going in the wrong direction it would shatter my existence. It would shatter my ego. My ego is that ‘you’ that I know wasn’t the me I wanted to be.
Yes you are god and so am I. Because god was never a person or a place, it's what we all are before we ruin it with everything we follow. Some hit a place where they need belief in something and the idea that they are it can’t sink in. They follow organized ideas that stray from real good that could be done. They sit in a room once a week praying for an hour instead of being a servant in the world for an hour a week and claim to follow goodness. There is no backstory or name for god, but a word is needed and that one is available. It’s not a traditional god that remembers you cheated in fourth grade unless you decide to carry that with you. What I think gets missed the most is the commonality. It doesnt matter what you call it, but it’s not yours it’s ours. That feeling is the same no matter where or when you’re born and that common link is god.
